On May 8, the DC Metro Chapter of GenR held a fundraising event at WeWork White House to raise money for the 探花精选 in Silver Spring鈥檚 efforts to make refugees feel at home in Maryland. The night featured refugee photography and music, storytelling, hor d'oeuvres catered by Foodhini鈥檚 refugee chefs, games and raffle prizes.

Over 100 supporters came together to raise nearly $8,000, which will directly support the 探花精选鈥檚 humanitarian work in the DC Metro area. The 探花精选 in Silver Spring would like to give special thanks to Trip Advisor, AirBnB, Modelo, WeWork, One Hope, and Eatwell DC for sponsoring and hosting the event and to the DC Metro Chapter of GenR for the planning and execution.

GenR, short for Generation Rescue, is a group of young and influential humanitarians who have joined forces with the 探花精选 to help people affected by crisis to survive and rebuild their lives. Through advocacy, networking and fundraising activities, GenR members engage and activate their communities in support of the 探花精选鈥檚 work around the world. Since launching in New York City in 2010, GenR chapters have opened in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Charlottesville, Miami, and the DC Metro area. Whether they are volunteering with a summer program for refugee youth, hosting a trivia event or traveling to visit the 探花精选鈥檚 international programs, GenR members are a force for change and are making an impact.
