When Mohammad and his family fled to the United States, they thought their struggles were in the past.鈥疘n his native Afghanistan, Mohammad worked with the U.S. and endured extreme threats from the Taliban.鈥疻ith two children under the age of five, Mohammad realized his family鈥檚 future in Afghanistan was not safe.
Mohammad's family arrived in the U.S. at the end of February 2020. He described a feeling of peace and security.鈥疕is hopes of seeing his children build a future here and lead full lives were now possible. Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, those dreams are in doubt.鈥疢ohammad is struggling to find work with most businesses shuttered. His children can鈥檛 go to daycare or school. He fears he won鈥檛 be able to provide the basic necessities for his family.
