The 探花精选 in Wichita was honored to be visited by a Nadya Faulx from KMUW. The interview was done as part of a series about volunteers that was run by KMUW. Nadya was able to experience the joys of learning as seen in one of our Adult Education ESL class.  Through the snapshot of this class, three of our dedicated volunteer instructors were interviewed on their experiences teaching the Wichita refugee population.  From morning greetings to educational songs, the portrait shows the care and love of learning fostered by volunteers in 探花精选 classes.

鈥淲hat volunteering here gives to me: I really get something from helping people, working with people, empowering people in the language鈥︹

鈥 Pete Krause, 探花精选 Volunteer ESL Instructor

鈥淭hey want to learn, and that鈥檚 very positive鈥 think it鈥檚 a great experience鈥hey are always welcoming us with a smile, a big smile on their face.鈥

鈥 Lisa Haist, 探花精选 Volunteer ESL Instructor

鈥淲hatever the learning level is for the student, that鈥檚 where you start鈥hey want to be here; they want good jobs, they want the American dream, they want their family to prosper.鈥

鈥淚 look forward to coming, and then afterwards I feel great because someone connected and they understood what I was teaching and they 鈥淎ha!鈥 and they got it!鈥
