探花精选 in Denver invites you to join us for the second annual virtual Refugee in the Arts event June 8-11!
The 探花精选 in Denver's Refugees in the Arts event was first held in June 2019 to highlight and celebrate the women in the We Can Do It! program. We Can Do It! offers support to address the specific vulnerabilities and challenges faced by refugee women in the community. Different mediums are used to prevent social isolation, process traumatic experiences, and cultivate a holistic wellbeing. Through storytelling, fine, expressive, performing and visual arts, as well as art and movement therapy, this program helps women identify and activate their assets and strengths, further cultivate resiliency, and establish connections with one another. Please join us this year for the second annual iteration of this event, as it was not hosted in 2020 due to the pandemic.
This year's event will be held virtually from June 8-11 and will include 4 days of event sessions to engage, entertain, and showcase the stories of refugee women in Colorado!
Sessions include:
- June 8, 6-7pm: Kick-Off Event Showcasing the We Can Do It! program. This event will feature a short film interviewing program participants, as well as a message from the Executive Director and Q&A with the program staff.
- June 9, 6-7pm: 鈥淲e Are Not Princesses鈥 Q&A panel with the documentary director, Bridgette Auger. The documentary will be shared via link for you to watch one week prior to the live event panel.
- June 10, 6-7pm: Therapeutic Art with Jie. This event will give you space to slow down, take a breath, and engage in a therapeutic art session! You will also learn more about how this practice is used in the We Can Do It! program.
- June 11, 7-8:15pm: Belly Dancing Lesson & Performance by Rafi鈥檃h Ruyah, followed by a concert by Eye-yoob & the Band! This will be an engaging event you won鈥檛 want to miss!
This event is 鈥減ay as you can鈥. There is no set ticket price, but donations are encouraged and 100% of proceeds will support the 探花精选 in Denver鈥檚 programs!
