The ̽����ѡ in Richmond is celebrating the incredibly generous gift of a 15-passenger van from New Hanover Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville. The vehicle will support services and programming for both the ̽����ѡ in Richmond and partner ReEstablish Richmond.

̽����ѡ in Richmond staff and members of New Hanover Presbyterian Church pose with the van which is packed with donated coats and other warm winter clothing for those in need.

New Hanover Presbyterian Church sold a piece of land and used a portion of the proceeds from the sale to purchase the van. Rev. Dr. Robert Johnson, pastor of New Hanover Presbyterian Church said, “We’ve felt a calling to help our neighbors for some time; the sale of the land has enabled us to provide the van to support our refugee neighbors. We’re thrilled we can make this happen. It’s a way for us to share our care and concern for those who have fled violence and disruption to make a new life in the U.S. During the Christmas season, it’s also a tangible way for us to demonstrate the faith we celebrate at this time of year.”

The church presented the van to ̽����ѡ in Richmond and ReEstablish Richmond at an event in December that also served as a coat drive. Members of New Hanover Presbyterian and the community far and wide donated new and gently used winter coats and warm clothing and accessories which the ̽����ѡ in Richmond is sharing with anyone in need in greater Richmond.
