We are so proud of one of 探花精选's Citizenship & Financial Capability students, Clemencia Morales, who recently became a new US Citizen! Clemencia's story is a reminder to us all of what it means to truly be American. Her compassion and selflessness (like delivering 5,000 handmade masks and hot homemade meals to those in need during the pandemic), and her desire to give back to the country that welcomed her, is an American ideal we can all agree on. So if you're in need of a bit of positive news, look no further. In the words of Iris Schneider, her volunteer instructor, "It just meant so much to her to become a citizen. She said that America had made her dreams come true...It sort of restores my faith in my country right now, knowing what it means to people.鈥

Clemencia鈥檚 efforts towards citizenship were supported by of 探花精选's Integration Program, run by Integration Manager Jonathan Fein Proa帽o, in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Libraries, through which most of our citizenship classes are run. Jonathan Fein Proa帽o, who also teaches the classes, said 鈥淐lemencia is one on of our many success stories of how resilience, dedication and love for the United States is embodied in all immigrants becoming United States citizens. Each and every one applying for citizenship has a story to tell and wants to continue to tell their story as US citizen, and we are there to encourage them and empower them along the way.鈥
