This winter has been one of the coldest in more than a decade! Our annual Winter Coat Drive is such an important event to make a huge impact on refugees, asylees, and asylum-seeking families across the city.
To help keep our newest neighbors warm, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ NY has been collecting a variety of new or ‘like new’ donations to distribute to families and their children; these include winter coats, sweaters, scarves, gloves, hats, baby items, hygiene kits, and more!
Over the past three months, our NYC community has come together to help us collect warm winter items for over 340 children and adults. Through donations from partners and community members, we are pleased to share that, to date, we have received:
- 340+ coats
- 329+ other clothing items and winter accessories
- This makes the grand total of all items, 669+
Building on our partnerships and meeting new supporters along the process for this annual coat drive has brought a shared sense of hope. We are thankful to our key partners, including the Penn State Alumni Chapter in NY, NeighborShare, Luis J. Amaro, Jr. Law Offices, Riverdale Country School, The Spence School, Old Navy, and New York Cares. We are also thankful to the families and community members who have helped make this possible!
We recently picked up coats from New York Cares and are grateful to the wonderful coordinators and volunteers who helped Bethany Dill, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ NY Community Engagement Coordinator and project lead of this drive, with loading up their tremendous donations of coats.

Da'Shawna Carpenter, Director of Signature Partnerships & Events at New York Cares, shares a reflection with us about the impact of this partnership:
"Supporting our dedicated community partners during the 36th Annual New York Cares Coat Drive has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Together, we’re not just distributing coats – we’re offering warmth, dignity, and protection against the harsh winter elements. I’m proud to contribute to this initiative, helping our neighbors stay warm while supporting ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ NY’s essential work empowering communities in need."
The coats and winter accessories are fantastic, and the variety of donations is especially helpful. We're so happy our clients can pick the right size for themselves and their families. Thank you again for making our annual Winter Coat Drive a success! Please consider purchasing items directly fromOR contact Bethany at bethany.dill@rescue.org to coordinate a drop-off at the office.
