The ̽����ѡ (̽����ѡ) is gravely concerned by reports indicating that Israel’s renewed airstrikes on Gaza have killed hundreds of civilians, including children in Gaza City, Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah, and Rafah. To prevent further humanitarian catastrophe, the ̽����ѡ urges that the ceasefire be immediately resumed, and Israel allows for the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Humanitarian crisis escalates

For over two weeks, aid has been prevented from entering Gaza by Israel, compounding critical shortages of medical supplies, food, clean drinking water, and adequate shelter. The UN reports malnutrition rates for children in northern Gaza have doubled. Without immediate action, the situation will only worsen.

Critical aid blocked

The ̽����ѡ has over six tonnes of life-saving medical supplies ready to enter Gaza, capable of treating thousands of people. However, access restrictions mean it remains uncertain when we will be able to deliver these supplies as medical facilities struggle to cope with this latest escalation. 

The deteriorating security situation has impacted essential services, including a temporary learning space run by the Palestinian partner organization, Teacher Creativity Centre, which was struck in a recent attack. Another partner, Juzoor for Health and Social Development, reported that one of its health clinics was destroyed by an airstrike.

The ̽����ѡ's call to action

The ̽����ѡ urges:

• The immediate reinstatement of a ceasefire is crucial, as it remains the most effective way to safeguard Palestinian lives and facilitate the release of the remaining hostages.
• The facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery, as required by International Humanitarian Law, regardless of whether the ceasefire is resumed.

“The physical and mental health impact of this on our colleagues and the people they serve cannot be underestimated,”  said an ̽����ѡ staff member in Gaza in the occupied Palestinian territory. “Especially after more than a year of relentless war, forced displacement and blocks on humanitarian aid.”

Under International Humanitarian Law, Israel is obligated to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, regardless of whether the ceasefire is resumed. This is non-negotiable.
