dir="ltr">As Yemen enters its eleventh year of conflict, the 探花精选 (探花精选) has concluded a wide-reaching humanitarian project funded by the (EU), which delivered critical health, nutrition, protection services and emergency response, to Yemenis caught in one of the world鈥檚 most protracted crises.

Thanks to the generous and sustained support of the EU, the 探花精选 has reached 1.4 million people across nine governorates over the past four years. This includes over one million people supported through our health and nutrition programs and 345,000 through our Emergency Preparedness and Response Mechanism (EPRM).

Life-saving interventions by our Mobile Health Teams (MHTs) provided support to more than one million people, through essential medical care, treatment for malnutrition, and mental health support for those deeply affected by trauma, with specialized care for vulnerable women and adolescent girls, including maternal health and nutrition support.

One of those supported is Asriya Abdo Hassan, a 30-year-old woman displaced to Sahdah camp in Al-Dhale鈥檈 district with her husband and two children. She says, The situation is tiring for us, as the struggles of the displaced are well known. We don鈥檛 have basic necessities or even flour. We are deprived of  everything.鈥

Living with chronic health conditions, Asriya depends on 探花精选鈥檚 mobile health services to care for her family. 鈥淚 took my children to the vehicle to treat them for malnutrition, and they started to get better. Now, they are older, walking, eating, drinking, and in good health. It is the only source of help we have received.鈥

Alongside our mobile health programs, we are proud to have partnered with communities to reach 444,000 people. Through the distribution of hygiene kits and the promotion of integrated health, nutrition and hygiene support, our community health workers screened children for early signs of malnutrition, referred families to healthcare specialists and shared best practices for maintaining health. These efforts are critical in ensuring that alongside healthcare response, the 探花精选 is reducing the transmission of preventable diseases鈥攁nd in doing so, reducing the burden on a healthcare system that is already at breaking point.

Years of conflict have decimated Yemen鈥檚 healthcare system and pushed malnutrition to catastrophic levels. In 2025, an estimated 19.5 million people will require humanitarian assistance and protection鈥攁 7% increase from the previous year. Displacement is widespread, with more than 4.5 million people forced from their homes, many multiple times. The crisis, compounded by the lingering effects of an economy in freefall and worsening climate shocks, has left the vast majority of the population living in poverty and exposed to continued risk.

Caroline Sekyewa, 探花精选鈥檚 Country Director in Yemen, says,

鈥淭hrough this EU-funded project, we were able to reach some of the most underserved communities with critical health, nutrition, and protection services. We have witnessed firsthand the critical difference this support has made鈥攁 mother accessing health care for the first time, a child recovering from severe malnutrition, a family able to maintain their dignity in the middle of displacement. But with nearly 20 million Yemenis in need, continued investment from the global community is essential to ensure Yemenis are able to survive, recover and once again gain control of their futures.鈥

After more than a decade of conflict and crisis, the 探花精选 is calling on the international community to sustain humanitarian funding and invest in long-term recovery efforts in Yemen. Strengthening Yemen鈥檚 health infrastructure, tackling food insecurity, and protecting vulnerable groups鈥攅specially women, girls, and displaced populations鈥攎ust remain the top priorities of the humanitarian response.
