The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Northern California is pleased to announce the #WomenThrive campaign! From International Women’s Day (Mar 8) until Mother’s Day (May 12), we are raising much needed funds for ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡â€™s work that helps ensure refugee women thrive in their new homes in Northern California.

The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Salt Lake City is proud to partner with Empower SLC to educate the refugee and new American populations we serve on reducing energy consumption & lowering energy costs along the way.

In celebration of a successful Career Program cohort, clients and staff visited the Empire State Building through a partnership with TripAdvisor designed to empower ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ clients in exploring their new home city!

Sheila Moreira, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Elizabeth's Immigration Supervisor, visited New Jersey congressional delegates on an advocacy trip on behalf of immigrant rights, laws, and policies.

“When I was in Ethiopia, I couldn’t imagine a future for myself. Then we came here." Each year, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in San Diego awards scholarships like Abdulfatah to refugee youth entering their first year of college or university.

Over 300 advocates mobilized in support of refugees in Washington D.C. on May 8th and 9th, including four delegates from the state of Idaho. Together, they urged congress to return to policies of welcome for refugee and immigrant communities in the US.

Aliyah came to the US with her two children in 2016 and Maria arrived in December 2018 with her husband and eight children. Both came to the U.S. looking for a better future for their families. They are a part of the Women’s Employability Program (WEP) at the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Baltimore, which is program that supports women in overcoming obstacles to working in the U.S. The women in the WEP program are a network for each other.

On April 6th, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡, in partnership with Play-well TEKnologies and Peer to Peer, brought 155 students and family members to the University of Maryland for a morning of LEGO-inspired learning. This was the second time that ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Silver Spring has had the opportunity to team-up with Play-Well TEKnologies to host a community building event for recently resettled families. “The Play-Well team uses the universal language of fun! Participants ranged from babies to grandparents, all excited to explore a new place and imagine a future at UMD.

This past semester, ten high school students from four different countries were selected to represent their peers on the first ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ CONNECT Leadership Council. The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ CONNECT Leadership Council was created to offer recently resettled students a formal opportunity to develop their leadership skills,explore civic engagement and build confidence in their ability to create change in our communities.Over the past couple of months, students have participated in a variety of activities including the SUMMIT Leadership Course at George Washington University and workshops focusing on public speaking, critical thinking, and debate skills.
