Nathalie Elam is an MSW graduate student at the University of Washington and is also currently enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Global Health program. They are currently fulfilling their practicum hours as a WARN Advocate Intern and providing case management services to survivors of human trafficking at the ̽����ѡ in Seattle.

The ̽����ѡ in Salt Lake City’s Speakers Bureau educates the community about the refugees we serve and how they can get involved.

̽����ѡ San Diego offers opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and recently graduated students every summer. This 4-month cohort involves working alongside ̽����ѡ professionals in San Diego. Participants will gain valuable learning opportunities, including hands-on experience in case management, insights into local non-profit structures, familiarity with cross-cultural communications, and an understanding of the operational aspects of humanitarian work.

The ̽����ѡ in NY is delighted by the event turnout at the Youth & Wellness Panel that occurred on Wednesday, May 3 at M.M.LaFleur in NYC! Avigail Ziv, the Executive Director for both the New York and New Jersey Resettlement offices, led a discussion with the ̽����ѡ’s NY Senior Youth Program Manager, Pat Curran, and Health and Wellness Manager, Andrew Jones. At ̽����ѡ Washington, we play a pivotal role in the local refugee resettlement landscape, providing essential services to help individuals and families transition smoothly. By partnering with Community Support Groups through our Co-Sponsorship Program, we aim to combine our resources and expertise to make a substantial and meaningful contribution to local refugee resettlement efforts.

The ̽����ѡ’s POWERPLUS program, which is led by the ̽����ѡ in NY’s Economic Empowerment program, prepares female-identifying participants to overcome barriers to upward economic mobility by offering intensive one-on-one technical assistance.   Participants receive support in the necessary training, licenses, credentials, and certificates in three tracks: childcare, case management, and individualized coaching.  

When refugees arrive in Phoenix, a new phase of their journey begins as they learn about US systems which enable them to better integrate into their new community.  Building financial independence is a key factor in this successful integration. Over the past decade, the ̽����ѡ has partnered with Desert Financial Credit Union to increase financial literacy and financial independence for these new Americans.

The ̽����ѡ in Salt Lake City is currently running a series, “Refugee Resettlement”, describing our efforts to resettle and serve refugee individuals and families who now call the Beehive State “home.” Part two focuses on efforts to reach self-sufficiency and positively integrate into Salt Lake County.
