The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Silver Spring held their annual job fair on May 24 in downtown Silver Spring. The event was attended by 144 refugee job seekers and 24 employer partners. In the month since the job fair, there are 87 documented client interviews and 10 refugees who have started new positions, with more new jobs anticipated.

From their homelands to years in refugee camps, many ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ clients have gained unique knowledge in producing high-yield harvests from small plots of land.

Bob Marshall and Michael LaPointe of Biga Pizza have gone above and beyond to support new Americans in Missoula. In 2020, Biga Pizza began partnering with the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Missoula to employ newly arrived refugees. Michael, with over twenty years of restaurant experience, has been instrumental in this initiative, recognizing the challenges refugees face and providing them with the support needed to adapt to a new culture and work environment. This commitment has not only benefited the employees but has also enriched the entire Missoula community, showcasing the profound impact of compassion and inclusivity in business.

On December 3, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Silver Spring brought together over 50 clients, volunteers, and staff for a Thanksgiving meal and afternoon of festivities. Sampling traditional American fare such as roasted turkey and cranberry sauce alongside delicacies like homemade dolmas and Syrian pastries, refugee families and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ volunteers and staff had an opportunity to share their cultural traditions with each other and express the things that they are thankful for in their lives.

Adult Education programs provide community and crucial language skills for refugees, asylees, and immigrants looking to advance in New York City.

On Friday, June 23, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Associate Administrator, Mark Madrid, visited the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Atlanta to celebrate the success of the Community Navigator Pilot Program (CNPP)—a two-year collaboration between the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ (̽»¨¾«Ñ¡) in Atlanta, Refugee Women’s Network (RWN), the Latin American Association (LAA), and the Somali American Community Center (SACC)—in honor of World Refugee Day.

Wendy Juarez is the 2022 winner of the New American Dream Lab and owner of Prime Corn! Wendy launched Prime Corn in December 2021 with a focus on plant-based dishes derived from traditional Mexican cuisine.
