Since 1933, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ has been at the forefront of providing not only aid, but innovative solutions. We initiated a daring operation to help refugees escape the Nazi regime. We helped change how America welcomes refugees. We launched the largest early childhood intervention in the history of humanitarian response. And we’ve met each one of these challenges with unwavering determination.

After six years of war in Yemen, the COVID-19 pandemic has only worsened a crisis that has left over half of the population hungry and nearly 4 million people internally displaced—all while the virus spreads at unprecedented levels.

Enid, 30, teaches refugee children in the Kyaka Refugee Settlement in western Uganda. Over the last two years, she has integrated Learning through Play into her classroom with support from the PlayMatters program. PlayMatters helps teachers use learning techniques that build upon a child’s natural desire to play, fostering a range of critical skills. In 2023, PlayMatters introduced the LEGO six bricks concept.
