London, UK, May 16, 2022 鈥 Laura Kyrke-Smith, 探花精选 UK Executive Director, said:
鈥淲e welcome the publication of the UK Government鈥檚 International Development Strategy, particularly its commitment to immediately restore funding to women and girls. We hope to see this implemented imminently.
We also acknowledge and welcome the Strategy鈥檚 focus on humanitarian aid. However, to achieve the Foreign Secretary鈥檚 stated commitment to the most vulnerable people, fragile and conflict-affected states must be a priority, with spending at least 50% of ODA in these settings where needs are greatest.
It is deeds not words that will make this Strategy robust and effective and ensure UK Aid is spent effectively and in the right places, delivering for the British taxpayer, and delivering transformational change to some of the world鈥檚 most complex challenges.
We remain committed to this shared agenda and stand ready to work with the Foreign Secretary to implement these commitments to ensure UK Aid delivers in crises and conflicts, including for the world鈥檚 women and girls.鈥
