探花精选 spokesperson and actor Zeeko Zaki caught up with 探花精选 staff member and fellow Egyptian, Dina Elshenawy, to learn more about her work in 探花精选's partnership with World Central Kitchen. She has been helping provide food to vulnerable people in New York City, including refugees and at-risk families, since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

探花精选 spokesperson and actor Zeeko Zaki called Dina Elshenawy of the 探花精选 to learn more about her work in the 探花精选鈥檚 partnership with World Central Kitchen. She helps provide food for vulnerable communities in New York City hit hard by COVID-19.

Zeeko: 鈥淲hat were you doing before COVID-19 happened?鈥

Dina: 鈥淚 was a volunteer with the 探花精选, 探花精选, as an interpreter, and they gave me a free course.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淎mazing.鈥

Dina: 鈥淵eah, with them it鈥檚 amazing. During this crisis, everybody needs food so the 探花精选 stepped up to help all of these people, to give them food to make sure everyone is not hungry. It鈥檚 not only for refugees. It鈥檚 not only for our clients. It鈥檚 for everyone.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淲hat is kind of the ability or kind of the strength that these food kitchens have?鈥

Dina: 鈥淲e offer free meals for people from 12 to 2[PM]. Two days [we partner] with World Central Kitchen, one day is special for 探花精选.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淗ow many people are you guys serving?鈥

Dina: 鈥200 people [each day] and more.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淭hese things are helping but still there鈥檚 so much more needed.鈥

Dina: 鈥淥f course, yeah.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淗ow are you feeling鈥攊s it overwhelming?鈥

Dina: 鈥淚 always hear a lot of stories from the people who come to pick up the food. Most of the stories are sad. The people are very different than before. Everything, everybody changed inside and outside.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淗ow old are your kids?鈥

Dina: 鈥淥ne is eight months.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淥h my gosh, congratulations.鈥

Dina: 鈥淥ne is two years. Thank you. And one is supposed to be five years now.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淪o how are they handling it?鈥

Dina: 鈥淚 give them time for painting. This is a door.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淭he whole house will be covered by the end of this.鈥

Dina: 鈥淵eah. This is a paper from my hand.鈥

Zeeko: 鈥淵ou鈥檙e in New York, you鈥檙e in the heat of it and it鈥檚 just so refreshing and so exciting to see that at least there is some positivity coming out of it. I think [COVID-19 is] changing kind of what the whole idea and world behind relationships, behind people, behind community kind of looks like. It is time to connect with people and to help people.鈥

Dina: 鈥淲e have to teach people more about donations. If you can, maybe it鈥檚 not money鈥擸ou can donate with your time.鈥
