Scope of Work:

The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Salt Lake City’s (̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ SLC) Success Coaching & Mentoring (SCM) program is rooted in its Social Emotional Asset Development (SEAD) framework that develops social and life skills.

The goal of the Success Coaching & Mentorship is to help recently arrived refugee and immigrant young adults (ages 15-24) adapt successfully to life in Salt Lake City while providing them the tools and opportunities they need to grow in their academics, regulate emotions, and expand their social emotional skills. The Success Coaching & Mentor will help refugee students reach their goals by providing 1:1 mentorship for at least 2 hours a month for a duration of at least 9-months. Coaches also support youth’s and/or caregivers' involvement in a variety of workshops and other educational opportunities provided by ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ SLC.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the youth, help create an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for the youth highlighting specific goals and steps to achieve them.
  • Facilitate regular 1:1 meetings between coaches and participants via home visits, office appointments, calls, and messages to follow up on the student’s ISP and discuss progress.
  • Facilitate caregiver involvement in children’s education through phone calls, home visits, and other mechanisms.
  • Maintain comprehensive case notes and regularly update youth’s individual service plan to respond to students’ academic, material, and special case management needs.

  • Meet with the youth for at least two hours a month (30 minute weekly meetings or 1-hour biweekly meetings) focused on mentoring and coaching
  • Pass a general background check

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:

In accordance with ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡â€™s duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards and our commitment to safeguard the health of our employees, clients, and communities, ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ requires all volunteers who are interested in providing in-person support for our work to furnish proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be onboarded for the position.
