January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, dedicated to educating the public on how to prevent human trafficking. Through two anti-trafficking grants, the ̽����ѡ in Silver Spring provides survivors of trafficking with rental assistance and case management services. Last year, the ̽����ѡ in Silver Spring supported 43 survivors of trafficking to rebuild their lives in Maryland. 

Kidnapped by traffickers in Honduras at age 14, Suamhirs survived the ordeal only to find himself held captive by U.S. immigration authorities. Now a U.S. citizen working with the ̽����ѡ, Suamhirs tells his harrowing story—in order, as he says, “to inspire you to help.”

The ̽����ѡ received word this week that it received a $350,000 grant through the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) for its Turlock office to combat human trafficking. The investment will allow the ̽����ѡ to partner with the Alliance for Community Transformation to fight human trafficking in Stanislaus, Merced, Mariposa, Mono, and Tuolumne Counties.

The Washington Anti-Trafficking Network (WARN) participated in El Centro de la Raza’s Día de los Muertos event to honor all those who have fought for human rights, social services, and political and environmental justice to shape a better future for the children.

The ̽����ѡ (̽����ѡ) in Miami and Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) will continue their joint efforts in combating human trafficking across Florida after being awarded a total of $2,366,666 to fund multi-year anti-trafficking programming.

The ̽����ѡ recently partnered with the Seattle Mayor's Office and Human Services Department to commemorate Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The event honored local trailblazers who have made significant contributions to anti-trafficking work in the state and featured an insightful panel discussion with three survivors of human trafficking.
